the unit manager, and within the scope of practice for a registered

The Unit Manager will be responsible for coordinating Improved Quality
Nursing Care for the unit by ensuring compliance to professional and
ethical practice. The incumbent will be accountable for coordinating
Training, Development and Mentoring of staff. The incumbent will also
be expected to apply and manage the best and most effective
operational practice by focusing on the integration of people,
technology and finance drivers in ensuring that Unit costs are
maintained within budget.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
* Administer and supervise thus ensuring standards for quality
nursing care are met in the ward, evaluate on an on-going basis and
take appropriate action
* Monitor and enforce ward standards, procedures and staff
performanc
* Manage unit activities including irregularities and policy
violations and take corrective and follow up action
* Perform clinical instruction as necessary
* Control drugs as per regulations of the Pharmacy Act (Act 53 of
1974), perform checks on drug totals and drug register, ensure that
procedures and recording are adhered to. Rationalise and control
emergency stock. Set stock standard levels
* Monitor and manage staff attendance and ensuring coverage of ward
at all times. Complete duty roster and record books in accordance with
Employment Act. Allocate staff, based on workload and level of
competence ensuring optimal staff usage and maintaining the stability
of nurse/patient ratio
* Promote and maintain good working and inter-personnel
relationships with management, patients, staff, doctors and
colleagues. Co-ordinate the activities of all hospital departments to
provide uniformity of direction
* Demonstrate professional ethics and leadership qualities. Maintain
standards and conduct to the S A Nursing Act and SANC Regulations
* Conduct frequent patient rounds and provide top quality,
customer-centric service

The Pharmacy Manager will be responsible for ensuring the development
and implementation of a strategy for the pharmacy department in line
with Busamed Pharmacy Division’s strategic themes and that of the
Hospital.
The incumbent will further manage all related pharmacy services and
activities according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and
objectives of the Busamed Group.This will include (not limited to) the
provision of medication and supplementary services to patients and
other stakeholders. The Pharmacy Manager will also assume
responsibility for meeting patients’ needs in a responsible,
satisfactory, and cost-effective manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
* Manage the pharmacy financials as well as understanding the
financial fundamentals of the healthcare business
* Manage all aspects of the retail pharmacy business including
optimizing prescription and front shop sales
* Management of patient pharmaceutical care in the hospital
comprising both hospital and retail pharmacy environments
* Ensure effective, clear, and direct communication with all
stakeholders regarding pharmacy related maters (Doctors, Suppliers,
Internal colleagues/departments, external peers)
* Ensure that the pharmaceutical standards, quality assurance and
risk management is maintained within the hospital
* Leverage appropriate internal and external channels to ensure
urgent filling of critical vacancies with a specific emphasis on
Pharmacist positions
* Plan, co-ordinate, execute stock take, analysing results and
presenting improvement plans
* Assume licensing for regulatory requirements compliance with all
appropriate standards
* Co-ordinate staff activities to ensure smooth running of the
pharmacy and achieve company goals
* Liaise with relevant management re-stock purchases
* Participate in call-out roaster and respond to call-out requests
as per company procedures
* Ensure stock management are appropriately captured on the relevant
software
* Facilitate quick receipt of consignment invoices
* Dispensing of all prescriptions for in and outpatients
* Supply and control of ward stocks
The Theatre Stock Controller is responsible for the control of all
stock in the Theatre. This includes control over consignment, aged,
short dated, excess and obsolete stock, defective products and new
product information.
