The chef is responsible for the preparation and cooking of all dishes as per cycle menu to hospital patients, staff and doctors. The Chef/ Cook will report to the Supervisor Chef as well as the Executive Chef.
Certificate / Diploma Chefs qualification is required
Grade 12
Working experience in private healthcare will be advantageous
Cooking and preparing a daily variety of fresh meals
Setting high standards for the measuring of performance
Be able to monitor time effectively when preparing and cooking food orders to minimize staff/patients wait time and increase kitchen efficiencies
Monitor food orders quality and ensure items are stored appropriately
To make sure all stock items are available before the commencement of each shift
Ensuring that the ovens, flattops turned on timeously
Ensuring that plates, glasses and crockery are washed by the cleaner on duty and ready for service
Reading and understanding the menu and recipes
Responsible for the preparation and cooking of meals and pastries
To ensure that the food quality is of high standard – taste, colour, consistency, texture, flavor etc.
Responsible for clearing and cleaning kitchen and workstations once finished
To assist with the preparation ofsnacks and meals for special functions and meetings in house
To ensure that hygiene standards are always maintained, including personal hygiene and general kitchen hygiene
Following the daily and weekly cleaning schedules
Reporting any faults or defects to the supervisor on duty, paying particular attention to safety and health hazards
Able to speak, read, write, and understand English
