Post Basic - Qualified Pharmacist Assistant

Pharmacy

The incumbent will assist the pharmacist in dispensing and performing pharmacy-related administrative duties.

• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification.
• Qualified as Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant
• Registered as a Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant with the South African Pharmacy Council 

• Two years’ experience in a similar position in a pharmacy
• Working experience in private healthcare will be advantageous

• Computer Literacy is essential.
• Knowledge of dispensing systems and ordering systems
• The dispensing of a prescription to in and outpatients following the interpretation and evaluation of the prescription by a pharmacist
• Provision of drug information service under the supervision of a pharmacist 
• Supply of ethical ward stock under the supervision of a pharmacist
• Supply of surgical ward stock
• Assist in the control of stock kept in wards
• Aseptic compounding of mixtures according to GPP under the supervision of the pharmacist
• Checking and controlling expiry dates of medication in stock
• Assist in cyclical counts and full stock take process
• Assist in ethical and surgical stock ordering
• Related house-keeping tasks
• All duties assigned by management from time to time
• Keep up to date with evolving policies and procedures and abide by them at all times.
