CSSD Supervisor

Theatre

The CSSD Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the execution of procedures and tasks to decontaminate, pack and sterilize transport and store medical devices, linen and medical consumables required by the operating theatres and ward units. To work in close liaison with the Theatre Manager to ensure service delivery in the peri-operative environment.

• Demonstrate professional work ethics and leadership qualities.
• Ensure that consistently high standards are maintained within the CSSD department
• Manage CSSD activities including irregularities and policy violations, and undertake corrective / follow up actions.
• Conduct frequent rounds within the department and provide top quality, customer-centric service
• Ensure processes are in line with the working procedures and policies of Busamed Gateway Private Hospital.
• Monitor and manage staff performance.
• Good working relationship with theatre doctors, staff and other stakeholders
• Monitor and manage costs and budgets for instrument procurement and use of consumables
• Ensure procedures of care for instrumentation are followed, to maximise their lifespan
• Ensure audit compliance to Department of Health standards and Office of Health Standards Compliance

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
• Previous experience in an operating theatre or CSSD environment is essential
• A current Certificate in Basic Decontamination (eg Safmed) will be advantageous Computer Literacy is essential 

• Working experience in private healthcare or healthcare funding industry will be advantageous.
• Three or more years of experience in a private hospital
• Previous experience in an operating theatre or CSSD environment is essential
