Executive Management

The Chief Executive Officer will provide enterprise leadership, strategic direction and executive accountability for Busamed as a South African private hospital group. The role will lead the organisation in achieving sustainable growth, financial resilience, clinical quality, patient experience, operational performance, governance, stakeholder trust and long-term shareholder value. The CEO will direct the Executive Committee in translating Board-approved strategy into integrated business plans and disciplined execution across the hospital network.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Management, Business Administration, Finance, Commerce, Medicine, Nursing, Clinical Governance or related field (NQF Level 7) is essential.
• Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Finance, Strategy, Leadership, Governance, Medicine or related field (NQF Level 9) will be advantageous.

• Minimum 10 years’ executive leadership experience within private healthcare, hospital groups, healthcare services, clinical services, insurance, financial services with healthcare exposure, or a complex related service industry.
• Minimum 8 years’ experience leading multi-site operations with large workforces and professional stakeholder groups.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Board, shareholder, Executive Committee, regulator, funder and senior stakeholder engagement.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial stewardship, including P&L accountability, working capital management, capital allocation, acquisitions, risk management and commercial sustainability.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in healthcare quality, clinical governance, patient safety, healthcare professional engagement, hospital licensing and regulatory compliance.
• Experience in private hospital growth, healthcare acquisitions, hospital turnarounds, facility expansion, funder contracting and specialist clinician partnerships will be advantageous.
• Experience in B-BBEE, ESG, healthcare transformation and community stakeholder engagement will be advantageous.
• Experience in digital health, IT governance, cybersecurity, risk management and data-led healthcare improvement will be advantageous.

• Set the strategic direction of Busamed in consultation with the Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
• Translate shareholder and Board priorities into the healthcare strategy, operating model, capital plan and performance agenda.
• Lead the Executive Committee to align patient experience, commercial growth, finance, corporate services, strategy and clinical governance.
• Provide executive oversight of hospital operations and ensure safe, efficient, patient-centred and financially sustainable performance.
• Report to the Board on strategy, performance, risk, governance, growth, capital structure, clinical quality and material business matters.
• Lead financial and commercial sustainability, including profitability, cash flow, working capital, capital allocation and investment returns.
• Champion clinical quality, patient safety and clinical governance across the hospital network.
