Technical Assistant

Technical Department

Busamed Hillcrest Private Hospital is recruiting a Technical Assistant who will be responsible for the following:

• Provide day-to-day functions to the facility including plant, machinery and equipment
• Ensure continuity of operations in accordance with applicable company standards and other related legal requirements and best practices
• Respond to requests from doctor’s rooms, auxiliary services areas and soft services maintenance requests as reported
• Provide nursing staff with advice and guidance on maintaining their wards and common areas
• Assist with electrical installation, plumbing installation and air-conditioning installations
• Management, monitoring and control of medical gases back-up cylinder system and safe handling of chemical substances

• Qualification in or equivalent to Technical Assistant level 
• Proven knowledge of electrical including wiring, plugs and lights
• Proven knowledge of nurse call systems and medical gases and fire systems
• Basic knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety

• Minimum 2 years of working experience in building maintenance, plumbing, and carpentry
• Relevant hospital experience will be highly recommended

• Ability to provide fast, efficient, quality workmanship always
• Availability for standby, call out and overtime when necessary 
• Ability to manage external contractors and provide instructions on work requirements
• Ability to carry out basic electrical fault-finding 
• Basic skills with general tools
• Good skills with power tools
• Familiar with safe workshop practice
• Customer oriented with good interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to change with good planning and organisational skills
• Ability to problem solve and work within stringent timelines
• Team working and approachable
